Goddaughter of Leo XIV: “My godfather Robert is blessed, a messenger of God”
The goddaughter of the newly elected Pope Leo XIV breaks the silence and describes him as a man “blessed and guided by faith,” highlighting his humility and spiritual commitment.
The election of American Cardinal Roberto Prevost as the new Pontiff has shocked the Catholic world. Today, an intimate and emotional testimony has gained visibility: that of his goddaughter, who described the newly appointed Pope Leo XIV as “an extraordinary man, full of grace.”
In exclusive statements to the Catholic channel Sanctus Media, the young woman—whose identity is being withheld for privacy reasons—spoke of her godfather with moving words:
“My godfather Roberto is a blessed person, a messenger of God. Since I was a child, I have seen him live with simplicity, guided by prayer, with a firm and silent faith that sustains him every step of the way.”
She said the new Pope always maintained a close relationship with her family, even during his years as bishop in Peru and later in Rome. She also highlighted his love for the poor, his personal humility, and his passion for social justice.
“He doesn't like the spotlight, but the Holy Spirit has placed him where he is most needed,” she added.
Leo XIV was elected after a two-day conclave and has assumed the leadership of a global Church facing challenges such as secularism, international conflicts, and the climate crisis. His reformist and pastoral profile has raised high expectations.
