Nicolás Maduro holds video call with Vladimir Putin and strengthens the Venezuela-Russia alliance

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro held a video call with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in which both leaders reaffirmed the strategic alliance between Caracas and Moscow. During the conversation, Putin referred to the history of cooperation between the two countries and highlighted the visits to Russia by emblematic figures such as Francisco de Miranda and former President Hugo Chávez.

"Relations between Russia and Venezuela have been historic and solid. We remember the legacy of Francisco de Miranda, who visited St. Petersburg in the 18th century, and of Hugo Chávez, who strengthened our ties in the 21st century," Putin said.

For his part, Maduro expressed his gratitude to Russia for its continued support in various areas, from economic to military. "The friendship between Venezuela and Russia is based on mutual respect and cooperation for a multipolar world," the Venezuelan president stated.

The virtual meeting takes place at a time when both nations are seeking to strengthen their trade and diplomatic relations amid international sanctions and changes in global geopolitics. This conversation is expected to spur new cooperation initiatives between Caracas and Moscow in strategic sectors such as energy, defense, and technology.
