After feeling unwell again, former president Jair Bolsonaro reassures supporters and states that the consequences of the attack he suffered in 2018 are still affecting his health.
Brasília, April 10, 2025 — Former president Jair Bolsonaro reassured supporters after feeling unwell on Wednesday night (9). According to a note released by his advisors, the incident is related to complications resulting from the stabbing he suffered during the 2018 election campaign in Juiz de Fora (MG).
“Bolsonaro is fine and remains under observation, without needing to be hospitalized. His discomfort was quickly controlled,” the note said. On social media, close allies also highlighted that situations like this, even years after the attack, are still part of the former president’s routine.
Bolsonaro was the victim of a knife attack during a campaign event in September 2018, and has since undergone several surgeries and medical procedures. The perpetrator, Adélio Bispo, was arrested in flagrante delicto and, at the time, had ties to ideas associated with the PSOL, which still generates accusations and controversy among political activists today.
“The stabbing was not just an attack against a man, it was against democracy. And I still bear the scars of that today,” Bolsonaro is said to have told interlocutors, according to sources close to him.
Supporters of the former president mobilized on social media with messages of solidarity, while critics once again questioned the politicization of the episode. The topic quickly became one of the most talked about topics of the day on X (formerly Twitter).
Despite the scare, Bolsonaro continues with his political agenda, which includes meetings with conservative leaders and participation in public events in the coming days.
