An unusual atmosphere of hope permeates the streets of Gaza following significant progress in negotiations between the Islamist group Hamas and the administration of former President Donald Trump, who has resumed an active role as a mediator in the Middle East conflict.

According to sources close to the process, the contacts have been "productive" and concrete measures to alleviate the humanitarian situation in the Strip are being explored, as well as a possible extended ceasefire agreement with Israel.

In recent hours, there have been public expressions of joy from local residents, who see these talks as a real possibility of stability after years of violence, blockades, and shortages of basic goods.

“We don't know how real the promises are, but any attempt to stop the fire gives us hope,” Amina, a mother of three living in Rafah, told K13 News.

Donald Trump, who is seeking to regain international influence and possibly run for the US presidency again, has declared that his goal is to achieve a “historic agreement for lasting peace in the Middle East.”

While neither Israel nor the United Nations have officially confirmed their direct participation in these negotiations, analysts emphasize that the support of influential figures like Trump could put pressure on the warring parties.

At the moment, no definitive date has been set for an agreement, but US and Qatari officials are reportedly quietly facilitating the talks.
