The railway company Iryo has publicly denied the version offered by the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, regarding the origin and responsibility for the technical incident that caused the interruption of several rail services this week, affecting more than 11,000 passengers throughout Spain.

In an official statement released Thursday, Iryo stated that “the information shared by the minister does not accurately reflect the events that occurred or the protocols activated by our company to mitigate the impact on users.”

The denial comes after Puente indirectly blamed private companies for the disruption, stating that the failure was due to a lack of “coordination between operators.”

“The incident was caused by interference outside the Adif system that disrupted the flow of several trains,” Iryo stated, emphasizing that the response was “swift and in accordance with safety protocols.”

Commuters, for their part, have expressed frustration over delays exceeding three hours on some routes and the lack of information during cancellations. Consumer organizations are demanding automatic compensation and greater clarity regarding responsibilities.

The Ministry of Transport has not issued an official response to Iryo's statement, although the minister is expected to appear before Congress in the coming days to explain what happened.

The incident reopens the debate on the coexistence between public and private operators in the Spanish railway system and the challenges that remain in interoperability and crisis management.
