In a new twist to the escalating conflict in the Middle East, the US Air Force carried out a major airstrike against the Ras Isa oil port in Yemen, currently under Houthi control. The bombing, carried out just two hours ago, reportedly left at least 38 Houthi fighters dead, according to US military sources.

The port of Ras Isa, located on the Red Sea coast, has been a key strategic point for the Houthis, both for hydrocarbon logistics and for the mobilization of weapons. According to the Pentagon, the attack was aimed at neutralizing a ballistic missile launching cell that had recently participated in attacks against allied targets in the region, including Israeli territory.

Satellite images after the attack show significant destruction at the port facilities, although the full environmental and economic impact of the bombing is still unknown. Houthi sources have confirmed the offensive, calling it "an imperialist aggression" and promising retaliation "on all possible fronts."

For its part, the US Department of Defense reiterated that the actions respond to "the need to protect strategic allies in the region and ensure maritime stability in the Red Sea." No casualties among US forces were reported.

The attack comes amid a regional escalation following multiple missile launches by the Houthis toward Israel and other Western actors. The international community is watching the escalation of the conflict with concern, while the United Nations has called an emergency meeting to address the situation in Yemen and its geopolitical implications.
