In a moment that mixed nervousness and comedy, Vice President JD Vance caused an unexpected scene by dropping the college football national championship trophy during a White House ceremony honoring the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The incident occurred while the Marine Corps Band played "We Are The Champions." Vance, an Ohio State alumnus and ardent supporter of the team, attempted to raise the trophy in front of players, coaches, and the press. However, he apparently miscalculated the weight or balance of the object, which detached from its base and fell from his hands.
TreVeyon Henderson, the team's star running back and a direct witness to the mishap, reacted quickly and managed to catch the trophy before it hit the ground, drawing laughter and applause from the crowd. "It was just another play," Henderson joked after the ceremony.
Although the scene was awkward for Vance, the moment quickly went viral on social media, with many users celebrating the player's reaction and humorously reflecting on the vice president's stumble.
Neither the trophy nor anyone else was damaged, and the event continued without further incident. A brief comment was issued from the Vice President's Office: "A little scare, but nothing the Buckeyes can't recover. O-H!"
