Pressure grows on Andrew in the United Kingdom: they could demand he renounce his title of Prince
Despite new public and legal pressure related to Jeffrey Epstein, Prince Andrew has not been arrested in the United Kingdom. The case continues to have political and institutional repercussions.
The connection between Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and the American financier Jeffrey Epstein has returned to the center of public debate following new demands for transparency and accountability. However, to date, there has been no official confirmation of the arrest or detention of the member of the royal family in the United Kingdom.
Andrew has been the target of criticism since his personal associations with Epstein, convicted of sex crimes and child trafficking, came to light. The case gained greater repercussion after a civil action filed by Virginia Giuffre, resolved through an out-of-court settlement in 2022, without a formal admission of guilt on the part of the prince.
Since then, the Duke has lost honorary military titles, institutional patronages, and has been removed from official duties of the monarchy, a measure interpreted by analysts as an attempt by Buckingham Palace to contain damage to the Crown's image.
Legal experts emphasize that, despite public pressure, any criminal charges would depend on new evidence or formal investigations conducted by the competent authorities. So far, there has been no announcement of an arrest warrant or indictment.
The case remains sensitive for the British monarchy, which seeks to preserve its credibility amid one of the biggest scandals involving a senior member of the royal family in recent decades.
