Thailand sends 49 rescuers to assist in the search and rescue efforts following the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Burma

Following the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar and parts of Thailand, the Thai government has mobilized a team of 49 specialized rescuers to assist with search and rescue efforts in the hardest-hit areas.

The emergency team, comprised of collapsed structure search and rescue (USAR) experts, doctors, and logistics personnel, departed early Friday morning for the neighboring country to strengthen victim assistance efforts.

Commitment to Humanitarian Aid

Thai authorities announced that the USAR-Thailand team, renowned for its experience in international missions, will work together with local rescuers and international aid organizations to locate and evacuate people trapped under the rubble.

"We are sending our best specialists to provide immediate support. In these critical moments, regional solidarity is key to saving lives," the Thai Prime Minister declared at a press conference.

In addition to rescuers, drones and trained dogs have been deployed to search for survivors, as well as medical supplies and assistance equipment.

A Developing Crisis

The earthquake, whose epicenter was near the Burmese city of Mandalay, has so far left more than 150 dead and hundreds injured, with collapsed buildings and severely damaged roads in several locations.

Emergency teams from different countries have begun arriving in the area to provide support, while Burmese authorities try to coordinate their response to the magnitude of the disaster.

Additional international cooperation efforts to address the humanitarian crisis caused by this powerful earthquake are expected to be announced in the coming hours.

We will continue to provide updates on the progress of the rescue mission and the situation in the region.
