Tragedy in Nuevo León: 11 dead and 20 injured after tourist bus overturns
A tourist bus overturned on a highway in Nuevo León, Mexico, leaving at least 11 dead and more than 20 injured. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

A day marked by tragedy struck this Monday in the Mexican state of Nuevo León, after a tourist bus overturned on a highway, leaving at least 11 people dead and another 20 injured, according to official sources from the state's Civil Protection agency.
The accident occurred in the early morning hours on a winding stretch of highway connecting the municipality of Galeana with Doctor Arroyo, in the south of the state. The bus was transporting a group of tourists returning from a religious event.
"It was a devastating scene. Some people were trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle. Rescue teams worked for hours to free the injured," said a rescuer who participated in the effort.
Ongoing Investigations
Authorities are still investigating the exact causes of the accident. However, initial reports indicate that the driver may have lost control on a sharp curve, and excessive speed or a possible mechanical failure have not been ruled out.
The Nuevo León State Attorney General's Office has already opened an investigation, while the bus driver—who is among the injured—remains in police custody at the hospital.
Official Reactions
The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, expressed his condolences for what happened and assured that medical, psychological, and legal attention will be provided to the victims' families.
"It's a sad day for our state. We will not rest until we have justice and clarification of what happened," he declared at a press conference.
Nearby hospitals activated their emergency protocols to treat the injured, several of whom have serious injuries.
