The President of the Nation, Javier Milei, was awarded this Thursday the "Military Equestrian Order of the Grenadier Knights of the Andes," a historic honor bestowed by the "General San Martín" Horse Grenadier Squadron.

The ceremony took place at the squadron's headquarters in Buenos Aires and marked a milestone: Milei became the first Argentine president to receive this distinction. During the ceremony, he was also declared an honorary grenadier, reaffirming the symbolic link between civilian power and patriotic military tradition.

"Receiving this order is not only a personal honor, but a commitment to San Martín's legacy," Milei said after being decorated.

The Horse Grenadiers, founded in 1812 by the liberator José de San Martín, are an elite unit that played a crucial role in Argentina's independence. Today, its members are responsible for presidential security and ceremonial events, keeping alive the hero's legacy of valor, discipline, and patriotism.

The ceremony was attended by military authorities, government officials, and descendants of veterans, and concluded with a salute and a military parade.
