A Treasury report reveals that Mazón hid €500 million advanced by the central government
A report from the Ministry of Finance reveals that Valencian President Carlos Mazón allegedly omitted €500 million advanced by the government, sparking controversy over transparency in regional financing.

Valencia – April 10, 2025
A recent report prepared by the Ministry of Finance has put the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, at the center of controversy. The document reveals that the Popular Party leader allegedly "hidden" or failed to publicly account for €500 million in advances made by the central government to the autonomous community.
According to ministerial sources, these funds were advanced within the framework of the regional financing system to guarantee the basic functioning of public services, especially in the areas of healthcare and education. However, in his public statements, Mazón reportedly denounced an alleged "historic underfunding," without mentioning these key advances.
The Valencian opposition has demanded immediate explanations from the president, accusing him of manipulating the data to fuel a political confrontation with Moncloa. The Valencian Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) has called for a parliamentary commission to investigate the use of these funds and the veracity of the figures presented by the Consell (Consell).
For its part, the regional government has yet to issue an official response to the report, although Mazón is expected to appear in the coming days to defend his economic management.
The Treasury report has rekindled the debate on the fairness of the financing system between autonomous communities, an issue that promises to continue to shape the national political agenda.
