USS Gravely returns to the Caribbean for operations against the Cartel de los Soles
The destroyer USS Gravely (DDG-107) left the port of Ponce for new security operations in the Caribbean Sea. This is the focus or combat against the Cartel de los Soles, a group accused of international drug trafficking and committed in the region.

The US Navy destroyer USS Gravely (DDG-107) departed the port of Ponce, Puerto Rico, on Monday to resume its patrol and counter-narcotics operations in the Caribbean Sea.
The vessel, equipped with advanced defense and surveillance systems, was deployed to support international efforts against the Cartel de los Soles, a criminal organization accused of drug trafficking and smuggling in the region.
Military sources indicate that the mission aims to reinforce naval presence in strategic routes used by criminal networks, in addition to strengthening cooperation with coast guards and local security forces.
The USS Gravely has previously served on similar missions in the Caribbean and the Atlantic, participating in joint operations aimed at reducing the flow of illegal drugs to the United States and Europe.
Port authorities in Ponce emphasized that the ship's passage demonstrates Puerto Rico's strategic importance as a logistical support point for the U.S. Navy.
Meanwhile, analysts warn that the presence of military forces in the region could heighten political tensions, especially given the allegations involving high-ranking Venezuelan officials in the alleged financing of the Soles Cartel.
