Man dressed as a woman, Erika Hilton takes over presidency of the Women’s Commission and prioritizes “trans women”; agenda ignores real women and sparks conservative outrage
Federal deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP), a biological male who identifies as a trans woman, was elected president of the Commission on Women’s Rights (CMulher) of the Chamber of Deputies, becoming the first man to hold a position historically reserved for defending real female interests. In his speech, Hilton promised to defend “trans women,” sidelining the true needs of biological women, such as motherhood and protection from violence. The election provoked outrage among conservative sectors, with viral posts accusing “a man dictating where a woman should be” and prioritizing leftist ideological agendas over real women.
- Federal deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP), a biological male who identifies as a trans woman, was elected Wednesday (11) president of the Commission on Women’s Rights (CMulher) of the Chamber of Deputies, marking the entry of the first man into a position historically reserved for defending real female interests. The election by 11 votes to 10 blank votes took place amid protests from conservative lawmakers, who see the possession as a leftist ideological invasion of women’s biological spaces. In his possession speech, Hilton stated that the commission would continue defending the rights of “all women,” but explicitly prioritized “trans women and travestis,” ignoring the real demands of true women, such as protection of motherhood, combating violence exclusive to them, and workplace equality without gender confusion. “My management will address all women: single mothers, working women, black women, indigenous women, and those fighting for survival,” he said, but focused on agendas like transphobia and deep fakes, without deep mention of biological female issues.
- Hilton promised to confront “misogyny, transphobia and lesbophobia,” defending abortion and the “right to one’s own body,” which critics see as promoting gender ideology over protection of the traditional family. The possession immediately sparked outrage on social media among conservatives. A viral post from a patriotic profile (@K13News) accused Hilton of excluding “REAL WOMAN” from the agenda, stating that “the Women’s Commission will continue to defend the rights of trans women, meaning REAL WOMAN is not on his agenda. Here we see how A MAN TELLS WHERE A WOMAN SHOULD BE.” The post, shared by Bolsonaro supporters and evangelicals, highlights how a biological man, even dressed as a woman, imposes radical leftist agendas, invading female spaces and dictating priorities that ignore biology and family.
- Hilton responded in a victimized tone, saying that “transphobic” attacks strengthen his fight, but conservatives argue that a man presiding over the commission is an affront to real women, who face discrimination based on biological sex. PL lawmakers and evangelicals criticized the election as a “victory for woke ideology,” arguing the commission should prioritize mothers, violence victims, and working women, not trans agendas. The election reflects the polarization in Congress, with the left pushing forced inclusion while the right defends traditional values. Hilton, known for radical activism, has been awarded by progressive sectors, but critics point out that his possession threatens the commission’s essence.
- CMulher will now address issues such as violence against women, but with an ideological bias that excludes biological reality, according to opponents. So far, the Chamber’s Board of Directors has ignored the protests, but Bolsonaro supporters promise to obstruct radical agendas.
