Prince Dom Bertrand repudiates attack on Emperor Dom Pedro II
Prince Dom Bertrand of Orleans and Bragança, Head of the Imperial House of Brazil, published a note of repudiation against attacks on the figure of Emperor Dom Pedro II.

São Paulo, March 5 – Prince Dom Bertrand of Orleans and Bragança, Head of the Imperial House of Brazil, published this Tuesday a note of repudiation in response to recent attacks directed at the historical figure of Emperor Dom Pedro II.
In his statement, Dom Bertrand expressed indignation and disapproval of statements and initiatives that, according to him, attempt to distort the legacy of Dom Pedro II, one of the greatest statesmen in the history of Brazil.
"It is unacceptable that attempts are made to tarnish the memory of a monarch who dedicated his life to the progress, culture and unity of Brazil. Dom Pedro II was an example of a sovereign, a man of integrity and devoted to the good of his nation," the prince stated in the note.
Dom Bertrand emphasized that the Emperor was recognized worldwide for his commitment to education, science and diplomacy, in addition to having been a ruler who valued morality and service to the Brazilian people.
The note concludes by emphasizing the importance of preserving national history, highlighting that the memory of Dom Pedro II must be respected and valued, and not used as a target for unfounded attacks.
