Doug Ford threatens to cut US power in response to trade tariffs
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has said he may cut off US power if new tariffs on Canadian imports come into effect.

Toronto, March 5 – Ontario Premier Doug Ford has said he will not hesitate to cut off US power if the US government imposes tariffs on Canadian goods.
"I will do everything I can, including cutting off their electricity with a smile on my face," Ford said during a press conference, reinforcing his firm stance against possible trade sanctions that could harm the Canadian economy.
The statement comes amid tensions between Washington and Ottawa, following the announcement that the Donald Trump administration was considering new taxes on imports from Canada. Ontario is a major supplier of energy to the United States, and the measure could significantly impact American industrial sectors.
The Canadian government has not yet released an official position on possible retaliation, but Ford made it clear that his government will not accept measures that harm Canada's interests without a corresponding response.
The situation could further aggravate trade relations between the two countries, which have already faced previous clashes over exports of steel, aluminum and agricultural products.
